Substitute Players:
Substitute players should be utilized in the event of scheduling conflicts, temporary injuries, illnesses, or when a player has withdrawn from a division.
If you are scheduled to play a sub:
Division sizes may vary from 4 to 12 players. In divisions with an "odd" number of players, i.e. 7, 9, or 11, one player will be randomly selected to play a sub for one match. This is a mathematical requirement because every player in the division has to play an equal number of matches.
If you are assigned to play a "sub" on your schedule but are unable to find someone to play, you are allowed to report a default and elect to receive your Current Points Average instead of playing the sub match.
Explanation of Current Points Average Option:
Current Average Points are awarded to players who elect to win a match by default rather than playing an actual match. We subtract 20% off your total to discourage player from using this option. At Ultra Match Golf we want our members to play each other.
Current average points are calculated by taking the total points earned, divided by the total matches played minus 20%. Example (14+18+21+24) = 77 points. Divided by 4 matches = 19.2 minus 20% current average = 15 Points.
Note: A current average in week #1 will temporarily show as 10 points until actual match scores are submitted.
If you are unable to play a match
If your personal schedule prevents you from being able to play your match within the two-week match window, it is your responsibility to call a sub to play in your place. If a substitute is arranged, you will receive points based on the sub player's results, win or lose. If you do not arrange for a sub to play for you and your opponent is forced to find a substitute for you, you will receive zero points for the match.
A "sub" may be any Ultra Match Golf player at your skill level that is enrolled in the current season of play. This includes players within your own division as well as those not listed on the sub list.
Scheduling Conflicts
There will be times when players are unable to coordinate their schedules to play a match. If this occurs, both players may elect to play a substitute golfer independently of each other.
Your Flex Pass is the key to even more flexibility in scheduling.
The Flex Pass is designed to help avoid defaults by providing members the ability to play one match beyond the posted deadline. The match can be played and scored anytime during the seven-match regular season but cannot be used to extend the end of season deadline or during the playoffs.
Using Your Flex Pass
Each player is provided one Flex Pass to use during the season. When a match is played beyond the deadline, the player who caused the match to be played late must be the one to report the scores regardless of who won the match.
Note: If you have used your Flex Pass to play a late match but your opponent has not, you can effectively play a second match late as long as your opponent uses his Late Pass to report the scores.
To use the Flex Pass, simply report the late score online just as you would a regular score. The system will ask if you would like to utilize your Flex Pass. Once you agree, you will be able to enter the scores.
